Fleeting Moment

A new shop opened in cooper square the other day so I thought id check it out and I noticed they sold these lanterns and I have often seen them on wedding photographs and heard people talking about them but ive never set one of myself and always thought they where interesting... so i brought one after hearing the 'fleeting moment' brief.

My immediate thought was to set the lantern over water so that I could get a nice reflection of the water for an interesting effect. But as soon as the lantern was lit away it went, within 5seconds it was so high to photograph therefore I only got one decent one....

Its defiantly not my favourite image but I had no idea how lighting and photographing the lantern would turn out... it was one of them things you have to do to find out what its like without knowing the outcome. At least I can say ive tried it now!

I work 4 jobs aswell at uni so finding the time to set it off was hard due to it getting dark around half past 4 in the evening! I originally thought of Albert Village lake for the place to set it off however it was too dark near the water and there was no background, just black so I thought the image would be to boring as if I just took the photograph of the lantern and but it on a black background... a boring image.

Soooo I needed a place with some sort of lighting in the foreground so I decided to set it of near Burton bridge with some pubs and houses in the background...

2nd Sweatbox Event

Saturday 19th

After my last shoot at sweat box went down quite well they asked me back to photograph the next event.
However all the flash guns where out at college so therefor I couldnt use the 5d with a flash gun for the shoot so had to use plan b and use my own camera with a built in flash - lumix G2 which isn't amazing for the atmosphere.

The Continental Music Bar and Club

Kirk Norcross - The Only Way Is Essex Star is appearing at the club on Friday the 25th.
Its £10 on the door to get in the club and £30 for a meet and great, including champagne and a photograph with the star - which is where I come in...  (the photography not the alcohol :) )

I have been asked to be the photographer for the night. Mainly taking photographs of Kirk with the paying customer.
I will be editing the photos with the continental logo on the bottom left on the photograph ( I need to contact the person who makes the  and slightly air brushing the images to make them look the best quality for the customers.
The photos need to be edited and printed of and back at the club for the next morning - so looks like I'm getting no sleep that night!  - All worth it. Spending the night photographing KIRK NORCROSS!

I have briefly spoke with the owner of the club and he wants the photos 7''x5'' ( not sure if he would like a board or not ) which will be my next question to him.


I have planned to arrive early to prepare for what kind of lighting the club will be in for when I need to start shooting... Also I would like to get a few shots of the club, ones of cocktails at the cocktail bar... promotional shots for the night. So I can build up a portfolio of the night as a whole... creating the atmosphere through the photographs.

Clothes Show Live, the UKs largest beauty and fashion event,returns to Birmingham;s NEC this December to celebrate 23 years at the forefront of fashion and beauty.

Continuing its commitment to nurturing and developing young talent int he creative arts, Clothes Show Live will once again be running a competition to find the young fashion photographer of the year as part of its hugely successful Clothes Show Live design awards programme.

Entrants are invited to send in their photographs for a chance to be chosen as one of 10 finalists who will have their images displayed at Clothes Show Live 2011. The overall winner will be announced at the show and will receive £1,000 prize money.

The Brief:
To put your own spin on a iconic photograph from the world of fashion...

Immediately after reading the brief my head fills with iconic images such as Marilyn Monroe ...

I always photograph my friends ( women ) I want to try photographing men so ive been searching for iconic images of men...

My favourite images i would to put my own spin on for the competion....

I was thinking for this image i could use my sister as a model and get her hair in a similar way and the pose in a similar position but have her sitting on a chase long.. the chase long is situated in my grandmas garage but depending on the weather on the day of shooting could be moved into the garden for a more up to date look to the photograph. Also i would dress my model in up to date - fashionable clothing.

Last year for my FMP i chose to shoot photographs with 1950s fashion photography as inspiration..
